Carrollton Biography

Who is Carrollton?

Carrollton was an American Christian indie rock band formed in 2008 in the Cincinnati and Louisville area. Originally performing under the name Mosteller, the group adopted the name Carrollton in 2013, inspired by the small Kentucky town where the Cincinnati- and Louisville-based members regularly met to rehearse and write songs. The town became a restful halfway point between their homes and a natural choice for the band's new name.

Known for energetic live performances, soaring melodies, and heartfelt lyrics rooted in faith, Carrollton blended indie rock, pop rock, and worship influences into a distinctive sound.

The band's early lineup featured lead vocalist Justin Mosteller, bassist Jordan Bailey, drummer Michael Loy, and several guitarists over the years. Following the departure of Mosteller and guitarist Joel Rousseau in 2018, Stephen Moore became lead vocalist and David Terry joined on lead guitar, completing the band's final lineup alongside Bailey and Loy.

Carrollton signed with Centricity Music in 2013 and released the EPs Breathe In Deep (2014) and Sunlight and Shadows (2015), producing radio favorites including "Holding On to You," "Let Love Win," and "Tell Me." The group continued to build momentum with the EPs Everything or Nothing (2017) and Made For This (2018). The song "Made For This" received national exposure after being featured in NBC's promotional campaign for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Throughout their career, Carrollton toured extensively across the United States, sharing stages with artists including Lauren Daigle, Jason Gray, and Finding Favour. Their music combined bold rock arrangements with acoustic moments and honest songwriting centered on trusting God through life's challenges.

In 2020, the band independently released its self-titled final album, Carrollton. The following year, the members announced that the band had come to an end after more than a decade together, thanking fans for allowing their songs to become "a soundtrack through different seasons" of life. Although Carrollton is no longer active, its music continues to encourage listeners with messages of hope, perseverance, and faith in Christ.
