Devin Williams Biography

Who is Devin Williams?

Devin Williams is an independent Christian rock artist, singer-songwriter, producer and worship leader based in Nashville, Tennessee. With well over 20 years of writing, recording and touring, he combines melodic rock, post-grunge intensity and Christ-centered songwriting. His music brings together the energy of alternative rock and a commitment to sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

Williams grew up just outside Fresno, California, in a musical family. His father played piano and organ and taught him to play several instruments, while his mother was a drummer, dancer and vocalist. After his parents divorced, music became a major source of entertainment for him. He learned piano, trumpet, baritone, French horn, bass, drums and guitar, eventually finding in guitar a way to combine rock music with singing. His early musical influences included Soundgarden, DC Talk, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, Third Day, Stone Temple Pilots and Eric Clapton.

During his early teens, Devin Williams moved with his family to Kentucky, where he played in rock cover bands. He later moved to Florida to study music at a Bible college before relocating to Nashville to pursue his music career. His early recording work included "Where Do I Begin" with the group Mouthpiece, followed by his solo release "Pour It Out". His subsequent releases include "Destruction of Kings", "We Are Forever Yours" and the EP "Every Eye". The songs "Every Eye" and "Riverside" both reached No. 2 on Christian Music Weekly's Christian Radio charts.

Williams views songwriting as a way to communicate faith while reaching listeners from a variety of backgrounds. In a 2018 interview with CCM Magazine, he explained, "Sharing my faith in my music is very important to me. As a songwriter and an artist, I may write songs that do not directly reference my faith, but my desire is to infuse each song with hope and reconciliation to inspire and encourage the listeners." He added that songs can serve as a way to use parables, as Jesus did in the Bible.

Asked what message he hopes listeners will take away from his music regardless of their beliefs, Williams said his goal is for anyone to find "hope and encouragement in whatever struggles and mountains they are facing." He also expressed his prayer that non-Christian listeners would sense "the peace and love of God's presence and be drawn to the truth of Jesus."

Williams has earned seven Billboard Top 30 Christian Rock chart placements. His charting songs include "Destruction of Kings" (#15), "Like A Fire" (#16), "I Will Overcome" (#18), "Eraser" (#23), "Feel You Falling" (#24), "Here for You" (#27) and "Save Me" (#30). His song "Curses," from the six-track EP "Conquer the World", reached No. 1 on Christian Music Weekly's Rock chart in April 2026, reportedly holding the top position for three consecutive weeks.

Mac Powell of Third Day has praised Williams, saying, "You won't be disappointed. I believe God has something special for this guy." Williams has also shared stages with For King & Country, Tenth Avenue North and Building 429.

Alongside his recording career, Williams serves as a worship leader in the Nashville area. He has also performed for patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt through the Ryan Seacrest Foundation's Seacrest Studios.

Released May 9, 2025, "Conquer the World" features six tracks: "Conquer the World," "Curses," "See You Smile," "Social Disease," "Be Glorified" and "Walk Through." The project includes both rock-oriented songs and worship-focused material.

"Be Glorified" combines worship themes with '90s-tinged grunge guitars. Williams wrote the song as one the church could sing to lift up the name of Jesus, with lyrics centered on surrender, adoration and a desire for Christ to be glorified in everyday life. A special radio edit was serviced to Christian rock and radio stations on August 7, 2026. The official music video premiered in late September 2026 and was filmed in a small church in Orlinda, Tennessee, emphasizing an intimate worship setting rather than a large stage production. An official MultiTracks version, including resources for worship teams, is also available.
