The Gray Havens Biography
The Gray Havens are an American Christian folk pop duo formed by husband and wife David and Licia Radford. Originally from Crystal Lake, Illinois, the couple met on a mission trip to British Columbia before marrying in 2012. They moved to Nashville in 2014. David, a former American Idol contestant, is a vocalist, guitarist, and pianist. Licia contributes vocals, percussion, mandolin, and ukulele.
Merging earthy indie folk with lush elements of pop/rock, The Gray Havens craft a sound that is both organic and uplifting. Their music is imbued with strong faith-based narratives, offering a unique blend of musical styles and spiritual themes. In their own words, "We make narrative-pop-folk-esque music. Basically, we love bringing adventure & truth & melody all together."
The band's musical journey began in 2012 with the release of their debut extended play, "Where Eyes Don't Go," on Zodlounge Music. This was followed by their first full-length album, "Fire and Stone," in 2015. Funded through Kickstarter, the album achieved recognition within the Christian music scene, ranking among the Top 10 Albums of 2015 on Jesusfreakhideout.com.
The Gray Havens have continued to release music, with subsequent studio albums including "Ghost of a King" (2016), "She Waits" (2018), and "Blue Flower" (2021). They have also released an additional EP titled "Rest EP" (2020).
In 2024, following the release of their new single "Anywhere" on March 1st, The Gray Havens embarked on 'The Gray Havens 10 Year Anniversary Tour' to celebrate a decade of music. The tour concludes with a special hometown performance in Nashville, TN on June 4th. Read more on Last.fm.
