Who is 7eventh Time Down?
7eventh Time Down (pronounced "Seventh Time Down") is an American Christian rock band from Mount Vernon, Kentucky, formed in 2004. The band blends southern rock, modern rock, and worship music with memorable pop hooks and has become known for its energetic live performances and faith-centered lyrics. The current lineup consists of Mikey Howard (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Cliff Williams (bass), and Austin Miller (drums).
Formed while the members were still teenagers, 7eventh Time Down built a strong following through relentless touring and a straightforward approach to songwriting. Drawing inspiration from classic rock artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, and modern acts like Switchfoot, U2, and Coldplay, the band developed a muscular yet melodic sound that has become their trademark.
The band's major-label debut, Alive in You, was released through BEC Recordings in 2011. They achieved their breakthrough with Just Say Jesus (2013), whose title track remained on Christian radio charts for 52 consecutive weeks and became one of the band's signature songs. Their follow-up album, God Is On The Move (2015), featured the title track, which spent five weeks at No. 1 on Christian radio and finished as one of the biggest Christian songs of 2016. They later released Brand New Day (2019), By Faith (2022), and their seventh full-length studio album, We Praise You, in June 2025.
Known for their high-energy concerts, 7eventh Time Down has toured extensively throughout the United States, sharing the stage with artists including Newsboys, for KING & COUNTRY, and Matthew West. Former lead guitarist Eric Van Zant was a member of the band from its formation until his departure in 2019.
Throughout their career, the band's mission has remained consistent: creating honest, encouraging songs that point listeners toward Jesus.
