Rachael Lampa Biography
Rachael Lampa is an American contemporary Christian pop singer, born January 8, 1985 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She's been singing since she was a toddler, and was able to sing perfect harmony by age four. Singing too loud at the dinner table got her sent to her room more than once. At the age of 14, Rachael was discovered at a music conference in Colorado by Word Records producers Brown Bannister and Brent Bourgeois.
She released her debut album "Live for You" in August 2000, which became a significant success, featuring four number-one singles and earning a Dove Award for the hit song "Blessed." Following the album's release, she made various high-profile appearances, including performances on "The Tonight Show" and "The View", and features in "USA Today", "Billboard", "People", and "Seventeen". She also performed at World Youth Day in Rome alongside Luis Fonsi, singing a duet originally recorded with Aaron Neville.
In March 2002, Lampa released her second album, "Kaleidoscope", which was well-received and produced three top-five singles on the Christian music charts, including "No Greater Love," which peaked at number two. Later that year, in October 2002, she released a remix album titled "Blur", which included remixes of her popular songs and personal favorites.
Her third studio album, "Rachael Lampa", was released in July 2004, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles. Lampa co-wrote every track on the album and served as the executive producer. The album featured guest artists like Robert Randolph and T-Bone, and its lead single, "When I Fall," reached number seven on the Christian music charts. In May 2006, Word Records released a greatest hits collection titled "Blessed: The Best of Rachael Lampa", which compiled seventeen of her best and favorite songs from her previous albums.
Lampa continued her career with various projects, including a starring role in the 2006 film "Hidden Secrets", for which she performed four songs. She also released a Christmas EP titled "Three Songs for Christmas" in December 2009 and her first extended play, "Human", in January 2010.
In 2011, she signed with Universal Music Christian Group and released her fifth studio album, "All We Need", on September 27. The album's lead single, "Remedy," was released in July of the same year. Lampa also appeared on the NBC reality show "The Sing-Off" as part of a vocal group called "The Collective," reaching week six before being eliminated.
Lampa continued to collaborate with other artists, including Jonathan Thulin on the song "Bombs Away" in 2013 and Kevin Max on the single "Infinite" in 2014. In 2015, she joined Irish singer Hozier as a backing vocalist, touring extensively and performing on several major television shows, as well as at the Grammys and the Glastonbury Festival.
In 2017, Lampa released a cover of the hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" and, in 2019, she released the single "Side of my Heart." Her most recent release in 2022, "Perfectly Loved," featuring TobyMac, reached a peak position of number three on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart.
