Ruth Biography
Christian rock band Ruth formed in Battle Ground, Washington in 2005. Originally signed to Tooth & Nail Records, the band consists of Dustin Ruth (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Nicholas Wiinikka (lead guitar), Jesse Counts (bass), and Ryan Peterson (drums).
Ruth has released a steady stream of music since their self-titled EP in 2006. Their discography includes full-length albums Secondhand Dreaming (2007), Anorak (2008), The Covers EP (2009), Payola (2012), and Voilà (2014), the latter two released independently after leaving Tooth & Nail. Several singles were also released, including "Cross the Line" and "You Are" (2007), "One Foot In, One Foot Out" and "Back to the Five" (2008). "You Are" reached No. 16 on the R&R magazine chart on November 17, 2007.
The band's name "Ruth" is a dual reference: to lead singer Dustin Ruth's last name and as an acronym for "Return Us to Him."
