Eager Biography
Who is Eager?
Eager was a late-1990s Christian pop-rock band formed by Patrick Andrew of the Grammy-nominated, Dove Award-winning trio PFR. Andrew, who had served as bassist and vocalist, began assembling Eager in 1995 alongside songwriter and guitarist Greg Pope.
After relocating to Nashville in 1996, Andrew and Pope recruited drummer Paul Eckberg and guitarist Mark Kloos, completing the lineup. Produced by Jimmie Lee Sloas, the band recorded their self-titled debut, Eager, which was released in 1997 through Questar/Mission Records.
Blending melodic pop sensibilities with thoughtful Christian lyricism, Eager carried forward elements familiar to PFR listeners while establishing its own musical identity. The band toured through 1997 and into 1998 before disbanding in mid-1998.
Though short-lived, Eager remains a distinct chapter in Patrick Andrew's musical career and a snapshot of late-1990s contemporary Christian pop-rock.
