Kutless Biography
Kutless is a Christian alternative rock band originally from Portland, Oregon. Their name is inspired by Romans 6:23, which states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (NRSV). Reflecting on this verse, the band explains, "He took our cuts for us... leaving us 'Kutless.'"
The current band lineup includes Jon Micah Sumrall (lead vocals), James Mead (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Neal Cameron (bass guitar), Nathan Parrish (lead guitar), and Matt Christopherson (drums). Previous members have included Kyle Mitchell, Dave Luetkenhoelter, Nathan "Stu" Stuart, Andrew Morrison, Jeff Gilbert, Ryan Shrout, and Vince DiCarlo.
Kutless's albums are released by BEC Recordings, a subsidiary of Tooth & Nail Records. They have toured extensively, opening for bands such as Audio Adrenaline, MercyMe, The O.C. Supertones, Newsboys, tobyMac, Disciple, RED, Casting Crowns, Rhett Walker Band, Stellar Kart, Fireflight, and David Crowder Band.
