Micah Tyler Biography
Who is Micah Tyler?
Micah Tyler (born April 19, 1983) is an American Christian singer-songwriter and Texas native. Micah's passion is telling meaningful stories, loving people well, and creating Gospel-centered music that resonates with believers and those exploring faith. Having served in youth ministry for nearly a decade, he has a deep love and respect for the local church while striving to create music that connects with the unchurched. Tyler has developed a unique style he calls "Southern Soul," blending the grooves and melodic influences of childhood favorites like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson with the swamps and deep woods of southeast Texas. His distinctive sound has earned him a growing fanbase spanning multiple generations.
Micah released his first studio album, The Story I Tell, in October 2013. It debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes Christian/Gospel chart and No. 93 on the overall iTunes chart. The album also reached No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers South Central chart, covering Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
He continued his early success with The Kitchen Sink EP, released on October 7, 2014. The project climbed to No. 2 on the iTunes Christian/Gospel chart. Tyler described it as "the kind of record you listen to with your steel-toe dancing shoes on" because it both challenges the heart and makes listeners want to get up and dance.
In 2017, his country-gospel single "Never Been a Moment" became a major Christian radio hit. Two additional songs from his album Different (2017) reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart, and Tyler received a Dove Award nomination for Best New Artist that same year.
His latest full-length album, New Today, was released in 2020 and reached No. 25 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart. Notable tracks include "New Today" and "Feels Like Joy." In 2023, Tyler released the six-song EP People Like Us, which produced the No. 1 Christian Airplay hits "I See Grace" and "Praise the Lord." He continued that momentum with the singles "God Did It" (2025) and "Perfectly" (2026), further building on his success at Christian radio.
Micah has traveled extensively to play and lead worship at churches, concert venues, camps, retreats, coffee shops, and events throughout the United States. He has shared the stage with artists including Building 429, Leeland, Phillips, Craig & Dean, Sanctus Real, Unspoken, Matt Baird (Spoken), Jimmy Needham, The Afters, Sidewalk Prophets, and Phil Wickham, bringing his swampy Gospel style to audiences across the country. He continues to tour regularly while remaining active in worship ministry.
Tyler is married to Casey Begnaud, and together they have three children. They reside in Buna, Texas.
