Stellar Kart Biography

Who is Stellar Kart?

Stellar Kart was a Christian pop-punk band from Phoenix, AZ known for music that connected young people to Jesus Christ and encouraged them in their faith. Formed in 2001 by youth group worship leaders Adam Agee and Jordan Messer at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church in Glendale, Arizona, the band signed to Inpop Records and later Capitol Records, building their reputation as one of the standout pop-punk acts in 2000s Christian music.

The band released their debut album, All Gas. No Brake., in February 2005, landing several singles on Christian radio and earning Dove Award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Rock Recorded Album of the Year. Their breakout came the following year with We Can't Stand Sitting Down (2006), which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and produced the No. 1 Christian CHR hit "Me and Jesus" -- a song that spent seven weeks atop the chart and earned the 2007 Dove Award for Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song. Frontman Adam Agee was also honored at the SESAC Christian Music Awards that year for his songwriting on the track.

The band continued releasing music through the late 2000s and into the 2010s, including Expect the Impossible (2008), which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart, and Everything Is Different Now (2010), which took a more worship-oriented direction. Their song "Something Holy" from that album peaked at No. 2 on the Christian CHR chart and remained in the Top 25 for eighteen weeks. Their final full-length release, All In, came out in August 2013, and included "Ones and Zeros" on the God's Not Dead film soundtrack. A Frozen covers EP followed in April 2014 before the band disbanded later that year.

Over their run, Stellar Kart headlined their own annual Punk the Halls Christmas tour, opened for Kutless and Newsboys, and performed on the main stage at Creation Festival and before a crowd of 35,000 at the E.O. Youth Day in the Netherlands. Adam Agee went on to front Audio Adrenaline and later the Newsboys.
