The Modern Post Biography
The Modern Post is an indie pop rock praise & worship band formed in 2012 at Mars Hill Church in Orange County, California. Led by former Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue, the band includes brothers Phil and Lee Neujahr on bass and drums, along with synth player Jonny Sandu. Their music is characterized by middy lead basslines, chime-y guitar riffs, swirly melodies, somber vocals, thin drums, and a bittersweet atmosphere. This unique blend creates an energetic and modern worship experience. They released their debut EP, Grace Alone, in 2012 through the Mars Hill label.
The band's name reflects their belief that the Gospel is a message that needs to be declared in a modern way, staying relevant for all generations. Kensrue's lyrics focus on themes of God's grace and sovereignty. The Neujahr brothers have a long history of playing music together and view their musical talents as a way to serve their church. Jonny Sandu brings his classical training to the band's sound.
The Modern Post benefits from the creative freedom offered by Mars Hill Church. They deliberately choose a more upbeat and celebratory style, contrasting what they perceive as overly sentimental worship music. This approach results in a sound that expresses pure joy and reflects their belief in the timeless significance of Jesus' message. Read more on Last.fm.
