Who is We The Kingdom?
We The Kingdom is an American contemporary Christian music band formed in 2018. The group brought together producer and songwriter Ed Cash, his brother Scott Cash, Ed's children Franni Rae Cash Cain and Martin Cash, and close family friend Andrew Bergthold. Ed Cash's production and songwriting credits include work with Chris Tomlin, NEEDTOBREATHE, Bethel Music, and Crowder. Franni Rae Cash Cain departed at the end of 2023 after completing the band's remaining tour dates and subsequently pursued a solo career. The current lineup consists of Ed Cash, Scott Cash, Martin Cash, and Andrew Bergthold.
The group combines songwriting and production experience with a multigenerational family lineup. Its music blends contemporary worship with rock, folk, and gospel influences, while its lyrics address faith, personal struggles, redemption, and hope.
We The Kingdom released its debut live EP, "Live At the Wheelhouse," in October 2019, reaching No. 3 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart. The band's debut studio album, "Holy Water," followed on August 7, 2020, peaking at No. 4 on the same chart. Its title track reached No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album received a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, while its title track was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. The band also won the GMA Dove Award for New Artist of the Year in 2020.
The original version of "Child of Love" appeared on "Holy Water" in 2020. On January 29, 2021, the band released a new version featuring Bear Rinehart of NEEDTOBREATHE as a single. The collaboration was included on the deluxe edition of "Holy Water."
The band released its self-titled studio album on September 16, 2022, followed by the live album "Live From The Ryman" on July 21, 2023. Songs from this period include "Left It in the Water," "God Is on the Throne," and "Jesus Does."
On January 26, 2024, We The Kingdom released "The Plans," followed by "Church Music" on March 22. In July, the band released "33," a six-song live EP recorded in Minneapolis on Ed Cash's 33rd anniversary of sobriety. The project includes live versions of "Won't He Do It," "Church Music," "Let It Be Jesus," "The Plans," "Jesus Does," and "One Day."
In January 2025, the band released "You Bless Me (Thank You) [Live]," featuring Dwan Hill and The Choir Room. Recorded in Nashville during a special gathering in fall 2024, the song reflects the band's emphasis on Scripture-based songwriting. In October 2025, the band released "Don't Let The Darkness," followed on November 21 by "Dear Jesus," the title track from its upcoming album.
On January 30, 2026, We The Kingdom released "Dear Jesus," a seven-song project addressing faith, surrender, uncertainty, and renewal. The band followed it on June 12 with "Everything I Thought Was Pleasure," a seven-song collection featuring Crowder on "Glory Glory." On October 23, the group released "Soon The Streets Of Gold," an eight-song project completing the three-project sequence. Together, the releases address life's struggles, faith, hope, and redemption.
We The Kingdom continues to record and perform, drawing on Scripture, personal experience, and the everyday realities of faith.
