This is Matthew Part 2, covering chapters 14 through 28.

Jesus' ministry continues as growing opposition makes it increasingly clear that the path of God's Kingdom will lead to the cross. Matthew shows how the promised Messiah fulfills His mission through sacrifice, resurrection, and the promise of His continuing presence.

The central theme of this section is the victory of God's Kingdom through Jesus' death and resurrection. The Messiah who came to save His people accomplishes that mission by giving His own life.

Jesus continues performing miracles, feeding thousands, walking on water, and teaching His disciples about faith and the true nature of His Kingdom. Peter correctly declares that Jesus is the Messiah, but Jesus explains that He will reign not through military victory, but by becoming the suffering servant who gives His life for others.

Jesus teaches that greatness in His Kingdom is measured by humble service, forgiveness, and putting others before ourselves. As He enters Jerusalem, the crowds welcome Him as King, but He cleanses the temple, asserting His authority over Israel's worship and confronting the hypocrisy of its leaders.

At the Last Supper, Jesus establishes a new covenant with His disciples before praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. He is betrayed, arrested, tried, and crucified. Rather than being a tragic defeat, Matthew presents Jesus' death as the fulfillment of God's promises. The Messiah willingly endures rejection, humiliation, suffering, and death to deal with sin and bring forgiveness.

On the third day, Jesus rises from the dead, confirming His victory over sin and death. He then meets His disciples and gives them the Great Commission, sending them to make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey everything He has commanded.

Matthew reveals that Jesus is the risen Messiah who possesses all authority in heaven and on earth. His Kingdom continues to grow as His followers carry His message to the world.

The Gospel ends with both a mission and a promise. The risen Messiah sends His followers to make disciples of all nations, assuring them that just as He was introduced as "God with us," He will remain with His people always, to the very end of the age. Matthew's Gospel continues to call every generation to repent, follow the Messiah, and live as His disciples.
