This is the Book of Ruth.

The Book of Ruth takes place during the time of the Judges, when Israel was marked by spiritual decline and instability. Against that backdrop, this short book tells a deeply personal story of faithfulness, redemption, and hope.

The central theme of Ruth is God's faithful provision. Even through ordinary people and unexpected circumstances, He continues working out His greater plan.

A famine forces Naomi, her husband, and their two sons to leave Bethlehem for the land of Moab. After Naomi's husband and sons die, she is left grieving with her daughters-in-law. One returns to her family, but Ruth chooses to remain with Naomi, declaring that Naomi's God will become her God.

Returning to Bethlehem with almost nothing, Ruth gathers leftover grain in the fields to provide for them. There she meets Boaz, a kind and faithful relative who generously cares for both women. As a close relative with a special responsibility to protect the family, Boaz eventually marries Ruth, preserving the family line and restoring hope where there had been great loss.

The story concludes with the birth of a son named Obed, who becomes the grandfather of King David. What began as the quiet story of one struggling family becomes an important part of God's plan for Israel's future.

Ruth reveals that God's faithful care often works quietly through ordinary people and everyday events. Although His actions remain behind the scenes, His guidance is evident throughout the story as He gently leads each event toward His purpose.

The book reminds us that God is always at work, even when we cannot see it. Through one faithful family, He continues unfolding His promise to bring blessing and redemption to the world.
